Check eligibility first
Before reading the full grant description, check the eligibility section. Make sure your organization type is listed as eligible. Some grants are restricted to specific types of organizations, and spending time on ineligible grants wastes valuable resources.
Match your mission to the funding purpose
The strongest grant applications demonstrate clear alignment between your organization mission and the grant program goals. If your focus areas overlap significantly with what the grant is designed to support, that is a positive signal.
Consider geographic requirements
Some grants are restricted to specific regions, states, or types of communities (rural, urban, tribal). Make sure your service area aligns with the grant geographic requirements.
Evaluate the funding amount
